Sitting around a table in 1990, a connection was made that made a huge impact on the lives of two families who were raising children with special needs.  They realized that they "needed each other" and that through both of their life experiences, they had a lot of information and resources to share with each other.  Not wanting to keep this connection to themselves, they committed to sharing this experience with others.  This is how Family Connection was started years ago.  Those two families would never have expected that many years later, their vision would lead to over 24,000 parent-to-parent matches being made.  Columbia began providing support statewide in 1992 with the inception of the Family Partner Program.  Now, seven additional offices in Aiken, Anderson, Charleston, Florence, Greenville, Rock Hill, and Spartanburg offer support to parents throughout South Carolina.
