DESCRIPTION: Students with dyslexia/dysgraphia (and other print/learning struggles) can take control of their own learning needs to enhance their participation in classroom activities. Features such as word prediction, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, vocabulary support, study tools and PDF annotations will help students get ideas “unstuck” while staying focused and organized.
Also joining will be Texthelp who will team for a hands-on interactive session to learn about the Read&Write and OrbitNote literacy tools. There’s no content in these toolbars-you’ll learn to get the most out of what’s already working for you. We will give an overview of the tools and discuss different strategies that can be enhanced with Read&Write and OrbitNote support.
We will be covering strategies like:
- Building on prior knowledge
- Explicit Interactive Comprehension Strategies
- Graphic Organizers
- Bringing students into grade-level text with audio support
- Vocabulary Building
- Oral Reading Fluency
- Adding Rigor and Interactivity to your content
Read&Write is free for teachers. Please download your trial on our Read&Write page and register for free educator access with yourdistrict email. You’ll also get access to free features of OrbitNote; youcan download your trial here.
Be sure to have Read&Write set up before our session so you have time to explore with us!
