SCDHHS webinar: Medically Complex Children waiver amendment
Parents/caregivers of children on Medically Complex Children (MCC) waiver – proposed changes to add qualified family members as paid caregivers!
The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) is proposing changes to the Medically Complex Children (MCC) waiver program to add attendant care as a self-directed service. This would allow qualifying family members, including parents of minor children, of enrolled MCC waiver participates to be the attendant/paid caregiver of the service. MCC attendant care is intended to provide “extraordinary” direct care services to children birth through 20-years-old who need hands-on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) that do not fit the current age-appropriate definition.
SCDHHS intends to submit these proposed changes for approval to Centers for Medicaid Services (CMS) around October 1, 2024.
