DESCRIPTION OF WORKSHOP: Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a term heard in schools and one referred to in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). PBIS can be used schoolwide and as a way to support a student with behavioral difficulties. In this session, participants will gain valuable knowledge about features of full implementation in schools and for individual students. By the conclusion of this training participants will:
- Understand the data, practices, and systems in a three-tiered PBIS schoolwide framework to create a safe, predictable, and positive school climate for all students.
- Understand the process for determining positive behavior interventions and supports for students with disabilities experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges.
- Understand the role of family engagement and the use of positive behavior interventions and supports.
