Beverly’s favorite activities include tap class, gymnastics, and spending time with her siblings. Though initially shy, Beverly’s infectious personality brightens the lives of those around her. Those who know her describe how she radiates energy, humor and loves fiercely. Whether making makeup videos or showing compassion for her peers, Beverly leaves a lasting impact. Her resilience and determination inspire her family daily.
At 10 months old, Beverly lost her hearing due to meningitis. She has flourished with cochlear implants, communicating through spoken language and sign language. Navigating the school system poses challenges, requiring advocacy for educational services like interpreters and speech therapy. Participating in the Language Thrivation Task Force, Beverly’s family has been actively involved in advocating for children like her. They believe Beverly’s journey can offer hope and guidance to others on a similar path.
Beverly has thrived, inspiring her family and peers alike. Beverly’s ability to overcome obstacles and advocate for herself fills them with pride. Special moments, like helping her interpreter understand her peers, shows her empathy and strength. Her presence has enriched her family’s life, fostering connections within the deaf community, and reshaping their outlook on diversity and inclusion. Together, they navigate challenges and celebrate victories, knowing they are not alone in their journey with Beverly. She is a model of strength and determination, proving that deafness is not a limitation but a unique aspect of her identity.
