With a charismatic personality, Cortland is independent, funny, nurturing, and persistent. He is an avid artist who keeps his sketch pad with him whenever possible. He is doing exceedingly well in school and now is in the fifth grade at age nine.
Cortland has a diagnosis of autism. He is developing a willingness to grow and learn in his mental health therapy and is open and receptive even when things become difficult. He shows his nurturing side when he sings softly to his baby cousin or when he chose to do a well wish ritual for a loved one in the hospital. He is embracing challenges and stepping out of his comfort zone in other ways too. This year, he began playing Miracle League baseball and immediately began engaging with the other players and parents. He also demonstrated determination in learning to ride his scooter—now going on treks that exceed more than a mile.
Cortland’s other interests are expansive and diverse. He creates YouTube content and is a Barbizon Talent model. He loves to sing and play guitar, and last summer he taught himself to play the keyboard. As he grows older, Cortland continues to blossom every step of the way.
